Player roundup (February 25th)

The Spring Cup began for Ross Venus, David Clements and Jordan Hedley this weekend.

Clements scored a 3-2 win over Raiders on Saturday before Venus opened his account on Sunday during a 5-2 victory over the same team.

Hedley got the start for Telford on Sunday and made 37 saves on 39 shots.

In the ECHL, David Broll has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 23 games with the Indy Fuel. Justin Hamonic has five assists in 26 games with Tulsa Oilers.

Netminder C.J. Motte played five games (four starts) with the Allen Americans with a 3-1 record and a 0.915 save-percentage and 2.52 goals-against-average. He is now with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL.

Johnny Curran signed in the SPHL with Knoxville Ice Bears after a single game in the ECHL with Wichita Thunder. He has seven points (three goals, four assists) through five games.

Luke Ferrara had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 17 regular season games with Krakow. The team finished sixth and face the third seeded Torun in the playoff quarter-finals (currently 1-1 in the series).

Andrew Johnston currently has 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 14 regular season games with Bordeaux who are sixth in the Ligue Magnus.   

Charles Corcoran has 38 points (13 goals, 25 assists) with Esbjerg in Denmark. He scored in the semi-final of the Metal Final4 cup competition in a 5-4 victory over Aalborg Pirates. Esbjerg though, were beaten by SonderjyskyE 4-2 in the final. They sit second in the league.

Janne Laakkonnen has played four games with Narvik in Norway with one goal and one assist. The league has been on a covid-19 stoppage for several weeks and resumes on February 27th.

Finally, congratulations to former Blaze Head Coach who won the Coppa Italia with Unterland Cavaliers, beating the favourites Meran/Merano 3-2 in the final.

He has guided the team to a second placed finish in the league (from ninth last season) and now looks ahead to the playoffs.
